Assignment 14- Jim Brandenburg

Jim Brandenburg 1

From the DVD:

12. I really like the "blue jay battle" photo. It really tells a story and captures nature at the same time.

13. I think he decided to only allow himself 1 photo each day for 90 days, so he would capture only the best in his opinion.

Assignmnent 11: My lines assignment

At this assignment, my camera broke. I only had about 10 pictures taken already so it left me limited to choose from. I really like one of my photos, the basketball hoop. The shading is good and also the angle.
Lines 5:
This photo makes me feel like there is a sense of freedom. All i want to do when i look at this picture is run down it.
Lines 4:
This photo reminds me of when i was in Europe, of all of the old buildings and how they all had beautiful piliars.
Lines 3:
In this photo, you can tell that there is a texture to the leafs which adds a whole new element. To make it even better, there is a ladybug between the two leafs.
Lines 2:
I loveeee this picture because i loveeee chocolate. This photo popped out of the page haha

Assignment 10- Lines

This photo is really pretty. The sunset and that one phone line really work well together.

Assignment 8- depth of field photos

Short depth of field 1:
small aperture
shallow

Assignment 9: Depth of field

I think i did good, although it was very simple. I need to learn to be more unique and come up with more interesting ideas to shoot. In one of my photos, the focus is really good which is good for me because i struggle with focusing most of my pictures.
Frozen movement 3:
fast shutter speed
1/250th of a second
Frozen movement 2:
fast shutter speed
1/1000th of a second
Frozen movement 1:
fast shutter speed
1/500th of a second

Blurred movement 3:
slow shutter speed
1/15th of a second
Blurred movement 2:
slow shutter speed
1/15th of a second

Assignment #6

blurred movement 1:
slow shutter speed
this probably is using 1/8th of a second to capture this shot.

Assignment 5

I LOVE this picture because i can relate to it. This shows a lot of determination.
I could possibly get a shot of someone playing basketball.

Assignment #7

To be honest, i dont like my blur/action shots. They arent focused at all and i know i could've done better than that. When i was developing my film, something occured to make streaks in every single picture, which was a problem. Overall i think i did alright considering the fact that it was one of our first assignments of the year.

Assignment #3

The first thing that comes to my mind, is a bunch of kids having a blast. It makes me think about my childhood and how i used to love swinging on the swing. The first thing that pops out of this picture is the actual swing because of the lines that connect to it.

Assignment 2: Picutres i would like to take

1. The beach
 - This shot would be beautiful to take because you cant go wrong with taking a picture of the beach. This can consist of the horizon, sand, rocks, shells, beach chairs, waves, ect. The shutter speed and aperture depends on the object. If it were waves in motion, i would use a fast shutter speed.

2. Winter
- When it snows in the winter it reminds me of a fairy tail. If I wanted to capture the snow in the air I would need a fast shutter speed because the object is in motion. If I wanted to add blur to my picture, I would use a slower shutter speed.

3. A big city
- Ive seen many pictures of citys and its just really cool to look at because of all thats going on. It would especially be great if I could take it at night with all of the lights of the skyscrapers and street lights.

4. A highway at night
- This reminds me as a big city in regards of the lights and all that is going on.

5. Birds
- Its hard for me to capture objects in motion and to be able to capture a bird would be amazing. Although its a hard task, the outcome would be spectacular.

6. Bad weather(storms, hurricanes ect.)
- If it was raining outside, i could slow down the shutter speed to turn the rain into long streaks.

7. Old objects (doors, buildings, signs, tools)
-These photos and objects all have a rusitc look to them which i think is fantastic. There is so much texture and pattern throughout most of these shots.

8.  Waterfalls
- A faster shutter speed would catch a sharper image. In my opinion, i would use a slow shutter speed to capture a more realistic feel.

9.  Dancers
- All dancers, no matter what genre dance with vivid movements and for the most part elegant. It would be exciting to capture this.

10.  Ice
- Although this is an odd object to want to capture, i think it would be really cool (literally).

Learning to think like an artist means:

Looking at things more closely than most people do
Finding beauty in everyday things and situations
Making new connections between different things and ideas
Going beyond ordinary ways of thinking and doing things
Looking at objects in different ways in order to generate new perspectives
Taking risks and exposing yourself to possible failure
Arranging items in new and imaginative ways
Working hard and at the edge of your potential
Persisting where others may give up
Concentrating your effort and attention for long periods of time
Dreaming and fantasizing
Using old ideas to create new ones
Doing something simply because it’s interesting and personally challenging to do
